Description

JOB PURPOSE: The Shelter Manager at Eagle Lake Children's Center is responsible for providing supervision and administrative support to staff and minors in care. The Shelter Manager supervises the Shift Supervisors, Recreation/Vocational Coordinator, Food Services, Safety and Security Monitors, and provides overall oversight of Youth Care Workers. This position ensures that the daily schedule of the center is being adhered to in providing required services.


Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Monitor and supervise staff and children in care while addressing their specific needs and reporting any challenges to appropriate departments.





  • Ensure all incidents reports are documented in a timely manner and in compliance with agency and ORR policies and procedures.





  • Provide guidance and direction on safety and security practices.





  • Provide guidance and direction of food services protocols.





  • Evaluate and provide appropriate development/mentoring opportunities for assigned staff.





  • Maintain inventory of minor clothing/shoes/hygiene supplies and cleaning equipment and places order with Administrative Assistant as needed.





  • Develop and adjust daily schedule as needed for all shelter residents, including the provision of recreation and vocational activities.





  • Provide role modeling for staff in the milieu with how to engage youth, and de-escalate, as needed.





  • Resolve staff conflicts and/or recognize when a conflict must be referred to a higher level. Promotes team building amongst the staff.





  • Promote an environment that eliminates discrimination, harassment or favoritism of any sort and adheres to the zero-tolerance policy.





  • Seek guidance from Program Director/Assistant Program Director, including participating in regular supervision time.





  • Other duties as assigned





ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:




  • Must be 21 years old or older.





  • Proficiency in Spanish/English (written and spoken language skills), required.





  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Google tools.





  • Medical Requirements: TB Test & the Following Immunizations/Vaccines: Varicella, MMR, Tdap and Influenza annually during flu season.





  • Successfully pass a drug screen.





  • Be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform assigned task.





  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state, federal, and local child protection agency registries.





  • Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality.





  • Affidavit for Applicants for Employment with a Licensed Operation or Registered Children's Home.

EDUCATION:

* Bachelors (Preferred), in one of the following areas: Social Work, Non-Profit Management, Criminal justice, or related field of study; OR

* High School Diploma/GED and 2 years related experience and/or training including experience working in a Supervisory role.

LICENSES: N/A

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice. Valid driver's license, access to an automobile, insurance, and willingness to drive to off-site locations, highly preferred.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel in case of an emergency evacuation and as the business need dictates. Must be available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs. Willingness to work other duties as required.
