Carley Foundry (CFI) is a large, privately held award winning Aluminum Foundry. Carley Foundry possesses a talented work force that produces castings in a wide variety of methods and sizes ranging from mere grams to over 1000 lbs. These methods are: Greensand, No-Bake, Permanent Mold, Low Pressure, and Investment cast where we do cast a minimal amount of steel as well. We are seeking an addition to our Engineering staff in order to keep up with these demands.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • This position entails the development and qualification on newly tooled castings, along with trouble shooting and problem solving existing programs.
  • The aspects of Dimensional accuracy, Metallurgical soundness and Mechanical strength are the highlights of a satisfactory casting. Each of which require their individual Engineering effort.
  • The successful candidate needs to or will become fluent with current aluminum casting technologies. They must have the ability to convey that working level information to floor supervisors and operators.
  • Creating work instructions that are complete, accurate and easy to comprehend is an essential duty.
  • Develop CAD based designs that will be utilized for tool builds including fixtures, gating and simulations.
  • Populate the company operating system based on Engineering and product flow data.
  • Work with internal and external tooling shops to build robust molds/patterns and fixtures is a regular part of the job along with keeping on top of needed repairs.
  • The position will often require communication directly with outside customers or in tandem with our sales and production departments.



Foundry Process Engineer Education Requirements:

  • Four Year Engineering degree with some exposure to Aluminum metallurgy preferred.
  • Experience with aspects of the metal casting process is a plus.


Desired Skill Sets for the Position:

  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Mid to high level CAD, Solidworks preferred
  • Non-ferrous metallurgy and Heat Treatment
  • Project managment software use
  • Knowledge of Aerospace Casting Specifications
  • Design of Experiment (DOE)
  • Problem solving in a team environment
  • Use of formal experimental and statistical techniques
