Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Faculty Position in Mathematics

Description
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in mathematics to begin in August 2025. Preference will be given to candidates whose research is in computational mathematics. We are looking for candidates who use computational tools in their chosen area of research and can bring this experience into their teaching.

Candidates will be expected to teach at all levels of the curriculum and contribute to the instruction and development of courses with a substantial computational aspect. In addition, we seek applicants who are interested in working with students on undergraduate research projects.

This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with a research leave prior to tenure review of either a full year at 80% salary or a semester at full salary, and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. To enable a smooth transition to Holy Cross, new full-time tenure-track Assistant Professors receive start-up funding to support their research and professional development and have a one-course reduction in their first year of teaching (i.e., 2-2). All full-time appointments offer competitive salaries and full benefits. Faculty at the College cultivate a richly diverse academic community, pursue innovative teaching, and create high-impact scholarship. To learn more about faculty life at the College and the Worcester area, candidates are encouraged to visit our Prospective Faculty page.

Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate excellence in scholarship and a commitment to effective undergraduate teaching. A Ph.D. in mathematics or applied mathematics is required by the beginning of the appointment.

Application Instructions
Please submit a cover letter addressing the position requirements listed above, a current curriculum vitae, a statement on teaching, a statement on research, unofficial graduate and undergraduate transcripts, and three letters of recommendation, at least one of which discusses your teaching.

In your cover letter and statements on teaching and research, in addition to describing your research and teaching interests, please address how your scholarship, teaching, mentoring, and/or service might support the College's mission as a Jesuit, undergraduate liberal arts college and its core commitment to diversity and inclusion. Previous experience teaching, mentoring, or advising diverse student populations is an asset.
