About the Position:

The Costello College of Business at George Mason University is seeking an experienced and established scholar for the Robert D. Johnston Endowed position in Finance starting Fall 2024. This position is a full-time tenured appointment at the Associate/Full Professor level. We seek outstanding, entrepreneurial faculty with a national research reputation and who are passionate about research and education in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment. The review of candidates will focus on their research productivity, teaching effectiveness, and involvement in university, business college, and professional service and leadership. This position is full-time with benefits. Salary and benefits are competitive and will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Conducting high-quality research and teaching Finance courses in undergraduate and graduate programs. Finance faculty are part of the finance area, one of the six areas of the Costello College of Business.

Responsibilities:



  • Conducting high-quality research and mentoring research, teaching in-class and online undergraduate and graduate courses. The teaching load for this position is determined according to the College's workload policy; and
  • Additional responsibilities include service to the FNAN Area, the Costello College of Business, the University, and the profession, such as student mentoring, committee membership, being an engaged leader and ambassador for the college, including with potential donors, and interfacing with the business community.


Required Qualifications:



  • Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field;
  • Five or more years of experience as a Finance faculty member;
  • Stellar research record to support the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with sustained high quality research in top-tier journals in the Finance area;
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching; and
  • Evidence of leadership and good citizenship in terms of school, university and professional engagement.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with Ph.D. students; and
  • Successful grant funded research.
