WGL - Supervisor, Transportation

Location: SE Station | Forestville, Maryland

Position Summary
Washington Gas is looking for an experienced transportation and fleet professional to lead daily operations at our SE Station in Forestville, Maryland.

As Supervisor, Transportation, you'll oversee the maintenance and safe operation of Washington Gas' transportation fleet and power-operated equipment. You'll lead a two-shift garage operation, support vehicle and lube technicians, and help ensure our light- and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment are maintained safely, reliably, and ready to support the business.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who knows fleet maintenance and operations, enjoys leading a team, and can balance day-to-day priorities with safety, customer service, and longer-term equipment needs. The position may serve on a shift and/or participate in 24-hour on-call coverage as required.

What You'll Do:
* Supervise a two-shift garage operation of vehicle and lube technicians performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on light- and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
* Supervise the maintenance and repair of Natural Gas Vehicles (NGVs).
* Proficiently utilize fleet-related software, including Fleetwave.
* Manage daily operations with current knowledge of equipment and/or natural gas vehicle codes and standards, NGV compressor stations, vehicle safety, and commercial driver's license requirements.
* Represent the company's interests before external audiences, including expert witness testimony and contractual negotiations.
* Collaborate with external audiences to review and evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs, guidelines, systems, and services within the assigned unit.
* Set and achieve goals focused on customer satisfaction.
* Anticipate solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and respond to customer needs.
* Obtain feedback from others and use it to improve services and anticipate future needs.
* Recommend and determine replacement of equipment.
* Work with external audiences to interpret guidelines and procedures and resolve day-to-day issues associated with the unit's programs, systems, and services.

What We're Looking For:
* Bachelor's degree or four additional years of garage maintenance/vehicle operations experience in lieu of a degree.
* 5+ years of relevant work experience with demonstrated leadership ability.
* Ability to maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B certification, Medical Card, and forklift qualification within six months of employment.
* Working knowledge of equipment and/or natural gas vehicle codes and standards, NGV compressor stations, vehicle safety, and commercial driver's license requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to proficiently operate a variety of computer software and fleet-related programs, including vehicle maintenance software such as Fleetwave, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Workday, etc., to share, retrieve, document, and research business and personnel information and data.
* Demonstrated ability to structure mutually agreeable contracts and working arrangements with business partners.
* Demonstrated ability to logically analyze and solve narrowly defined business problems.
* Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate ideas and information professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Compensation:

We offer a competitive salary range of $103,500 to $150,750 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
