Responsibilities

University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds.

JOB SUMMARY: The cook is responsible for preparing / cooking meals and other food requests based on a specific menu on a timely basis, and within a required volume, to meet the food needs of the residents and staff. Responsible for promptly cleaning and organizing the work areas to maintain a required health statutes of the facility.

This is a PD position (As needed).

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education: High school graduation preferred.

Experience: 1-3 years' experience cooking in a large institutional or healthcare/hospital kitchen setting. Psychiatric health care facility, is preferred.

Certification Requirements: Food Handlers Permit /ServSafe certificate required.

Additional Competencies:

  • Knife Skills: Proficiency in chopping, slicing, dicing, and mincing ingredients efficiently and safely.
  • Cooking Techniques: Mastery of various methods such as sauteing, boiling, grilling, roasting, and braising.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage kitchen operations effectively under pressure.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow specific dietary requirements and recipes accurately.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience working effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Adaptability: Flexible to cater to changing menus and dietary needs of patients.
  • Customer Service: Providing exceptional service to patients, staff, and guests.
  • Safety Practices: Observing and promoting safety in the workplace, including adherence to sanitary procedures for handling, cooking, and serving food.
  • InventoryManagement:Assistingwithcountingfoodinventorymonthlyandmaintainingkitchenequipment.
