SUMMARY


The Assistant Machine Operator is responsible for assisting with the set up and operation of machines within an assigned department to support safe, efficient, and consistent production output.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist with the setup and operation of assigned machines in accordance with company procedures.
  2. Run material through the assigned machine following company and customer specifications, ensuring correct materials are used for each order to meet customer specifications.
  3. Ensure all inventory entries are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  4. Inspect product to maintain quality standards; immediately report any defects or concerns to the Production Manager.
  5. Meet all efficiency standards established by the company for the assigned machine and department.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized workstation and contribute to overall facility cleanliness.
  7. Follow all company safety policies; report any safety or machine maintenance concerns, and assist with two-person feeds as necessary.
  8. Special projects and assignments as business dictates.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities



SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS



    • High School diploma or equivalent required.
    • 2-4 years of manufacturing experience in the corrugated industry preferred.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn machine setup and operation.
    • Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
    • Ability to read, interpret, and follow product layout and production specifications, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines.
    • Reliable attendance and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime as needed.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment.
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify issues or irregularities during production.
    • Must be able to complete tasks that require a particular speed or productivity quota.
    • Must be able to adhere to process protocol and must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.




WORK ENVIRONMENT



    • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
    • Exposure to wet and humid conditions.
    • Exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
    • Noise level is usually loud.
