Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year. Department: Business and Criminal Justice

Instructor Business, Statistics HV-FAC-Stats F27

(Position Is a full-time Probationary, Tenure track Position) Fall 2027

Minimum Qualifications
* Master's Degree in Business Administration (or other relevant graduate-level business degree) or Master's Degree in Mathematics or Statistics from an accredited college or university
* Daytime availability to teach on-campus sections
* Experience teaching Statistics, Business Math and Quantitative Business Applications
* Teaching assignments may include weekend, evening, and online
* Previous experience and/or a desire to engage in distance learning initiatives
* Classes will be held on the HVCC Troy, NY and possibly our HVCC North campus.

Preferred Qualifications
* Post-secondary teaching experience
* Experience with online delivery systems (D2L Brightspace)

Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide classroom instruction in the Business Department
* Teach Statistics, including statistical methods used in the collection, presentation, analysis, and interpretation of data (measures of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, probability theory, distributions, hypothesis testing, chi-square, regression, correlation, and ANOVA)
* Teach Quantitative Business Applications, including algebra-based calculations and analysis of business investment scenarios (simple and compound interest, annuities, present and future value, and conceptual investment analysis)
* Teach Business Math, reviews basic arithmetic and algebra skills through factoring trinomials and applies those skills to topics including ratio and proportion; percentages; simple interest; commercial discounts and purchases and present value. Income statement calculations and analysis will include sales, cost of goods sold, markup, and operating expenses
* Evaluate student performance
* Participate in departmental, division-wide, and college-wide committees
* Perform additional duties as specified in the faculty contract at the direction of the Department Chairperson

The minimum salary for this position is $53,000 and faculty appointments may be at the instructor or assistant professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. This position includes benefits for 12 months but has a work obligation of a 10-month appointment (151 days), which reflects responsibilities during the fall and spring semesters. The annual assigned teaching load is between thirty (30) and thirty-three (33) contact hours, typically distributed as eighteen (18) contact hours in the fall semester and fifteen (15) contact hours in the spring semester. Teaching load may include evening, weekend and/or online assignments, and there may be potential for additional compensation through voluntary overload.
