Another Source's client, UC Riverside, is recruiting an Executive Director, Housing Services to join their team in Riverside, California. This is an onsite leadership opportunity. Relocation assistance is available.

Housing Services plays a critical role in that mission. As one of the university's largest auxiliary enterprises and a significant revenue-generating operation, the department directly impacts the student experience while supporting the university's long-term financial sustainability and strategic growth.

About this role:

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead one of UC Riverside's most visible and impactful auxiliary operations during a period of significant expansion. UCR Housing is projected to grow from approximately 10,000 to 14,000 on-campus residents by 2035, making the Executive Director a key strategic leader in shaping the future of residential life at the university.

Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Services, the Executive Director serves on the Auxiliary Services Senior Leadership Team and provides executive oversight for housing administration, occupancy management, financial planning, strategic initiatives, and daily operations. The role leads a department supporting approximately 25 career staff, 100 student employees, and four direct reports, overseeing a housing enterprise generating approximately $93 million in annual revenue.

Scope & Impact

    Provide strategic leadership for all Housing Services administrative and operational functions.
  • Lead occupancy planning, contract administration, and annual rate strategy to meet enrollment demand and financial objectives.
  • Partner with the Associate Vice Chancellor on long-range financial modeling, reserve planning, debt management, deferred maintenance planning, and housing growth initiatives.
  • Guide the continued expansion of campus housing as the university adds approximately 4,000 additional beds through 2035.
  • Oversee a direct operational budget of approximately $5 million while supporting the broader housing enterprise generating approximately $93 million annually.
  • Direct housing assignments, billing, resident accounts, occupancy management, and contract compliance using enterprise housing systems.
  • Serve as the university's primary administrative lead for Public-Private Partnership (P3) housing operations and the North District-2 intersegmental housing partnership.
  • Ensure compliance with housing regulations, landlord-tenant requirements, state grant requirements, health and safety standards, and university policies.
  • Build strong partnerships with Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Residential Education, Financial Aid, Student Business Services, UCPD, Auxiliary Facilities, and other campus stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing leadership team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and exceptional customer service.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and serve on Auxiliary Services emergency management teams.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Eight (8) or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in administrative or operational management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex budgets, financial planning, and operational performance.
  • Experience leading large teams through managers and developing high-performing organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, internal controls, human resources, and risk management.
  • Excellent strategic planning, organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across large, complex organizations while building trusted relationships.
  • Outstanding communication, leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Valid California driver's license (or ability to obtain one).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading housing operations within higher education.
  • Experience managing residential facilities operations and maintenance.
  • Experience supporting students, faculty, and staff within a university environment.
  • Knowledge of UC policies, systems, and administrative procedures.
  • Experience with emergency management or Emergency Operations Centers (EOC).
  • Understanding of residential housing operations, occupancy management, and landlord-tenant regulations.

Compensation & Benefits

Anticipated salary range: $130,500 - $195,000
