Position Overview

The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role operates ultrasound equipment, ensures patient safety and comfort, maintains accurate imaging records, and adheres to established clinical protocols and quality standards while providing compassionate patient care.

Job Responsibilities




  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols.



  • Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures by explaining the examination process and positioning patients appropriately.



  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.



  • Evaluate image quality and obtain additional views when necessary to support accurate diagnosis.



  • Maintain accurate patient records and document examination findings in accordance with organizational policies.



  • Ensure patient safety, privacy, and comfort throughout all procedures.



  • Follow infection prevention, safety, and quality assurance standards.



  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care and imaging results.



  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and report equipment malfunctions as needed.



  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum of one (1) year of General Registered Ultrasound experience required.



  • Completion of an accredited or appropriate training program for Ultrasound Technologists, including Military Training.



  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required.



  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.



  • Strong knowledge of ultrasound imaging techniques, anatomy, and patient care practices.



  • Ability to operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively.



  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.



  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.



  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards.

  • Completion of an appropriate training program for Ultrasound Technologists, including Military Training.
