We invite applications for two full-time faculty positions in IEMS at Northwestern University: one tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor and one at open-rank. We encourage applications from candidates with research and teaching interests in optimization; artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven decision-making; financial engineering; and healthcare operations. Applicants should have a PhD or be near completion of their doctoral studies with demonstrated research potential. A commitment to rigorous and relevant research is essential. To be considered for a tenured position, candidates must have demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and service.

Hires will have opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration via broad research initiatives and centers, including the Center for Optimization and Statistical Learning, the Center for Engineering and Health, and the Center for Deep Learning in IEMS, as well as Northwestern Network of Collaborative Intelligence, the Center for Foundation Models and Generative AI, the Center for Engineering Sustainability and Resilience, the Institute for Data, Econometrics, Algorithms, and Learning, the Institute on Complex Systems, and the Transportation Center.

IEMS offers an undergraduate degree, an undergraduate minor in machine learning & data science, a PhD degree, and master's degrees in machine learning & data science and in engineering management. Both the undergraduate and doctoral programs are consistently ranked among the top ten by US News & World Report.

Submit applications electronically at https://www.mccormick.northwestern.edu/industrial/career/ Materials to be uploaded include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a research statement, a teaching statement, and one job-talk related research paper. Candidates will be asked to provide contact information for three references on the application site. To receive full consideration, all materials should be received by November 16, 2026. Applications received by October 16, 2026, will be included in an initial review. Inquiries should be directed to iemsfacultysearch@listserv.it.northwestern.edu.

These base pay ranges are for nine-month academic appointments, do not include summer salary, and are subject to negotiation.
