Position Summary

The Clinical Law Program at the UNM School of Law is a law firm where advanced law students represent clients under the supervision of Law School faculty who are licensed attorneys.

We are seeking a dependable, highly organized administrative assistant to join our team. This position is part of the administrative team supporting the daily operations of the Clinical Law Program. The successful candidate must be comfortable following established procedures, managing confidential records, and providing consistent administrative support to Clinical Law Program faculty and students across multiple law practice areas.

Key administrative support duties include:

  • Greet visitors, answer phones, and maintain a professional and welcoming front desk environment
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, clients, and members of the public
  • Administer the lifecycle of client files using a cloud-based case management system
  • Provide consistent procedural guidance to clinical law students regarding administrative processes, file maintenance, and office practices
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information
  • Apply established office procedures accurately and consistently

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Administrative support experience in an office or educational environment
  • Experience managing confidential records using electronic systems such as a case management system or database
  • Ability to clearly explain and consistently apply defined office procedures when working with faculty and clinical law students
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, professional, and accurate emails and office correspondence
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 in a professional setting
  • Ability to learn and follow established office practices, incorporate guidance, and work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Experience maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information
