SUMMARY Perform functional, compatibility and dimensional inspection of components and finished products; initiated through Field Sales, Customer Service or Product Development. Document and report all observations and results to originator of lab request. As required, assist with making product development samples. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Set up and monitor compatibility tests with customer products. Report test results clearly within a defined format. Measure parts or test units according to standard operating procedures. Devise new methods of testing for partially assembled and complete units. Assist product development engineers with testing of new projects. These duties are performed approximately 65% of the time. Communicate with sales and marketing by telephone, instant message, letter, report or email. Maintain files and records. Interpretation of simple blueprints. Assist in making product development samples when needed. Assist in training new technicians. These duties are performed approximately 35% of the time. Other duties may be assigned. Note: Must follow all work rules and policies QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE * Associate's degree (A.A.) preferred * Two (2) to four (4) years related experience and/or training. * Equivalent combination of education and experience. * Strong oral and written communication skills. * Basic computer skills to include working with Microsoft Office and Windows based programs. * Proficient in the operation or use of the following equipment: balance scale, stereo and video microscope, torque tester, laboratory gauges, calipers and micrometers, viscometer, drill press, arbor press and customized equipment used for testing. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to communicate with customers and other stakeholders. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
