| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) Program is a collaborative initiative between the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Use Services (DMH/DD/SUS) and the University of North Carolina School of Social Work. The program's vision is to build a qualified Peer Support Specialist workforce that is supported, respected, and recognized as a credible and competent part of the mental health and substance use disorder service system. Through quality training, technical assistance, and strong partnerships, the NCCPSS Program prepares Certified Peer Support Specialists to effectively serve individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges across North Carolina. |
| Position Summary |
The North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) Program is seeking an Administrative Support Specialist for a 1-year TIME-LIMITED postition to support workflow and daily operations to help the Program meet deliverables, improve efficiency, and strengthen relationships with partners and stakeholders. This position plays a key role in processing certification applications, maintaining accurate program records, supporting data collection and reporting, and assisting with communications and special projects. The Administrative Support Specialist will also provide technical assistance to applicants, helping ensure efficient program operations and high-quality customer service. Key Responsibilities
*Coordinate the processing of certification applications by reviewing submissions, verifying eligibility requirements, and ensuring applicants have completed all required training and documentation.
*Provide customer service and technical assistance to certification applicants, responding to inquiries and guiding individuals through the application and certification process.
*Maintain and manage program databases, including Excel and Access systems, to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and availability for reporting and operational decision-making.
*Distribute monthly surveys to training graduates and individuals who have received new certifications, recertifications, or lapsed certifications to support program evaluation and quality improvement.
*Provide administrative support for new program initiatives, special projects, and other operational activities as assigned. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
| Management Preferences |
- Experience with data collection and reporting
- Experience working with persons with lived experience in Significant Mental Illness (SMI) and substance use disorders
- Intermediate use of Microsoft Office (Excel and Access)
