Manager, Engineering Observability

Procore
United States, Texas, Austin
221 West 6th Street (Show on map)
Jul 02, 2026

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead Procore's Observability team within the Developer Acceleration group. You'll own the strategy and execution for the internal platform powering metrics, logging, tracing, and error monitoring across Procore's engineering organization - including Datadog, Honeycomb, SumoLogic, OpenTelemetry, and Bugsnag.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll shape Procore's observability strategy, build a world-class developer experience around internal tooling, and grow a team of 6-10 engineers.

This position reports to a Senior Manager within the Developer Acceleration group and will be a hybrid role based in our Austin,TX office. We're looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you'll do:

  • Define and execute the technical strategy and roadmap for Procore's observability platform, including metrics, logging, tracing, and error monitoring

  • Evaluate and evolve the observability toolset - making principled decisions on how Datadog, Honeycomb, SumoLogic, OpenTelemetry, and Bugsnag work together as a unified platform

  • Build self-service observability frameworks and standards that engineering teams across Procore can adopt

  • Partner with engineering leadership and SREs to align observability investments with reliability, incident response, and on-call health goals

  • Drive engineering excellence: SLOs, incident management, system reliability, and technical debt

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers across timezones - fostering a culture of ownership and curiosity

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering to align platform investments with broader business objectives

  • Position the platform to support Procore's growing AI and agentic workloads as Construction Intelligence capabilities expand

What we're looking for:

  • 7+ years experience as a Software Engineer, with 2+ years managing teams across varying sizes and timezones

  • Hands-on technical depth in backend systems, distributed infrastructure, or platform/developer tooling

  • Experience building or operating observability platforms using tools such as Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, or similar

  • Background in SRE or reliability engineering, with strong understanding of SLOs, incident management, and on-call operations

  • Experience evaluating and optimizing observability tooling strategies - making principled tradeoffs between vendor and custom solutions

  • Ability to lead in ambiguity and translate evolving problem spaces into clear strategies and executable roadmaps

  • Experience with or genuine interest in observability for AI/ML or agentic systems is a plus
