Business Program Manager, SOM Office of Online Education

The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (SOM) is seeking a Business Program Manager to join the Office of the Vice Dean for Education. The Business Program Manager will collaborate closely with the Director of the Office of Online Education (OOE), the SOM Administrator for Education, and program directors and administrators throughout SOM, to oversee and manage new and ongoing activities related to online education initiatives, projects and operations. The manager will also collaborate closely with internal and external partners to ensure the alignment of educational outcomes and practice needs. This role requires teamwork and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and proper management processes to enable successful attainment of project outcomes.

The Business Program Manager will be responsible for managing multiple projects at the divisional level or large programs. The Business Program Manager is responsible for providing programmatic, business, and administrative leadership for programs. This position will provide overall management for programs including research and writing.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall program management including setting goals, creating workplans, project tracking, creating milestones, assigning tasks, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Establish, lead, and implement the development of process flows, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop procedures, protocols, and flow charts for planning and organization of program initiatives.
  • Monitor resource needs and make recommendations for adjustments to those resources; implement agreed-upon solutions, which may include hiring staff to ensure the program runs efficiently.
  • Organize and contribute to program strategy discussions among stakeholders providing feedback as appropriate to advance short-and long-term goals.
  • Ensure timely responses to regular and ad hoc requests for information from stakeholders.
  • Collect critical programmatic, workforce development, and collaborative data for all projects.
  • Manage program budgets in collaboration with finance and business leaders.
  • Collect, manage, and use data to guide informed decision-making. Produce reports. Execute competitive analysis as needed.
  • Facilitate communication with stakeholders to effectively manage timely workflows.
  • Manage external collaborative partnerships to engage stakeholders in programming, philanthropy, and overall support of the program.
  • May supervise and/or oversee operational staff with program responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties described above

  • Collaborate with OOE leadership and School of Medicine stakeholders to support online education operations and program development.
  • Support strategic planning and project evaluation for online education initiatives, including recommendations for resource allocation.
  • Oversee planning and implementation of online education projects, including fee-for-service offerings, degree and certificate programs, hybrid clinical education programs, cohort-based training programs, and asynchronous courses.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data for internal and external use; develop project timelines and support evaluation efforts.
  • Coordinate meeting materials, presentations, reports, and trainings for assigned projects.
  • Facilitate small- and large-group meetings, task forces, and trainings as needed.
  • Assist with publications, grant applications, accreditation materials, and approvals for new academic programs, including submissions to MHEC and third-party accreditors.
  • Monitor policy changes affecting existing and future programs.
  • Oversee an annual operating budget of approximately $1 million
  • Develop and monitor OOE and program budgets; oversee accounting transactions and quarterly distribution of funds among stakeholders.
  • Conduct market analysis and financial projections for prospective programs.
  • Draft MOUs and manage approval processes for non-degree and non-credit projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for program communication and learner support.
  • Test and implement online education platform features, assist with instructional technology, and support website updates and program documentation.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for marketing efforts, including content development and multimedia production.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of sensitive records, transcripts, and files.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in online education.
  • Familiarity with project management tools like Microsoft Planner.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems like Canvas.
  • Familiarity with payment processing and credit card regulations.

Starting Salary Range: $62,900 - $110,100 Annually ($80,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
