Position Summary The Utility position is responsible for safely supporting Production Operators by assisting with machine operation, machine setup, material handling, packaging, housekeeping, scrap disposal, and overall production workflow within the manufacturing environment. Operating within the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) framework, this role is accountable for supporting safe, efficient, and organized production operations while helping the team meet production goals, food safety standards, workplace safety expectations, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Utility position plays a key role in daily manufacturing operations by assisting Operators with production activities, supporting machine setup and changeovers, packaging rolls, moving materials, keeping production areas clean and orderly, disposing of scrap, and contributing to overall team success. This role also supports the company's SQF-certified manufacturing environment by adhering to food safety requirements, GMP expectations, sanitation procedures, operational controls, traceability requirements, and workplace safety standards across all assigned activities. EOS Role Alignment Primary Accountability
- Assist Production Operators with daily machine operation and production support
- Support daily production goals and operational efficiency
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas around production equipment
- Package rolls and handle finished goods according to company requirements
- Assist with machine setup, material staging, and changeover activities
- Dispose of scrap and support waste-handling procedures
- Follow food safety, GMP, and safety requirements
- Support teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement
- Maintain clean, organized, and compliant work areas
Core Responsibilities Production Support
- Assist Production Operators with machine operation, production workflow, and daily production activities
- Support machine setup, production preparation, material staging, and changeover activities as directed
- Help maintain efficient production flow by keeping materials, supplies, cores, pallets, and packaging items available as needed
- Package finished rolls according to company procedures, customer requirements, and production expectations
- Operate core cutters, pallet jacks, roll movers, stretch wrappers, and banders safely and responsibly
- Move, stage, organize, and remove materials as needed to support production operations
- Remove scrap, waste, and excess materials from production areas and dispose of them according to company procedures
- Support Operators by keeping work areas orderly, clean, and free from unnecessary materials or hazards
- Assist with basic troubleshooting support within assigned responsibilities and notify Operators or Leads of concerns
- Support production flow and operational priorities throughout the shift
Quality & Documentation
- Support product quality by helping Operators maintain clean, organized, and properly staged production areas
- Assist with packaging, labeling, staging, and handling of finished products according to company and customer requirements
- Support material identification, traceability, and proper handling of product and production materials
- Communicate production issues, material concerns, quality concerns, or operational deviations to the Operator or Floor Leadperson promptly
- Help maintain operational consistency and product quality throughout assigned production support activities
- Complete assigned documentation or support records accurately when required
SQF, Food Safety & GMP Compliance
- Support and follow the company's SQF-certified food safety system
- Follow all GMP requirements, sanitation procedures, operational controls, and food safety expectations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within assigned production areas
- Support traceability requirements, material identification, and operational documentation procedures
- Report food safety concerns, contamination risks, product defects, or operational non-conformances immediately
- Participate in food safety training, operational audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities
- Support operational discipline and audit readiness throughout production activities
Safety & Workplace Compliance
- Follow all OSHA standards, company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and operational safety expectations
- Operate tools, packaging equipment, material handling equipment, and support equipment safely and responsibly
- Maintain awareness of machine guarding, lockout/tagout procedures, forklift traffic, roll movement, and workplace hazards
- Use pallet jacks, roll movers, core cutters, stretch wrappers, and banders safely and according to company procedures
- May operate forklifts and clamp trucks only after successful completion of company training, testing, and authorization
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries, or operational hazards immediately
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times
- Support company safety initiatives and operational discipline throughout the facility
Teamwork & Operational Support
- Work collaboratively with Production Operators, Floor Leadpersons, maintenance personnel, shipping personnel, and leadership teams
- Support production goals, workflow coordination, and operational priorities
- Maintain professionalism, communication, and accountability throughout daily operations
- Assist with training, cross-training, and operational support activities as needed
- Support organizational teamwork and operational consistency
Continuous Improvement
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to production efficiency, quality, workflow, housekeeping, and safety
- Identify opportunities to improve production support, material flow, organization, and waste reduction
- Participate in problem-solving and process improvement activities
- Support operational consistency and standardized work practices
- Maintain a positive attitude toward learning, improvement, and accountability
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous manufacturing, converting, packaging, warehouse, or production support experience preferred
- Experience assisting with machinery or working in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience within food-contact, packaging, converting, or SQF-certified environments preferred
- Forklift or clamp truck experience preferred, but not required
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and quality awareness
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Willingness to work flexible schedules and overtime as needed
