Job Overview: The Electrical Support Technician is responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance for OEM machinery installed at customer facilities worldwide. This role serves as a key technical resource for customers, field service technicians, and internal teams by diagnosing electrical and light mechanical issues, supporting machine commissioning and service activities, and contributing to technical documentation and training initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide remote technical support via phone, email, and other communication platforms to customers and field service technicians.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, and light mechanical issues on OEM equipment.
- Guide customers and technicians through troubleshooting procedures to minimize downtime and restore production quickly.
- Document service cases, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in company service management systems.
- Escalate complex technical issues to ensure timely follow-up.
- Travel to customer facilities domestically and internationally to troubleshoot, repair, and optimize machine performance.
- Support machine installations, commissioning activities, upgrades, and service projects.
- Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions to improve machine reliability.
- Support emergency customer service requests as required.
- Partner with the electrical engineering team to improve reliability of equipment.
- Provide feedback from the field to engineering regarding recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
- Participate in extended-hours customer support coverage to support global customer operations.
- Help establish processes and best practices for after-hours technical support and escalation management.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Controls, or related technical field required.
- 3+ years of experience in industrial machinery, OEM manufacturing, automation, field service or related technical support roles.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in electrical controls and machining troubleshooting.
- Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems and machine controls.
- Ability to travel approximately 30-50% of the time, including international travel.
- Ability to work in manufacturing and production environments.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
Success Factors: The position requires strong electrical troubleshooting skills, customer-focused communication, and the ability to travel to customer sites to resolve equipment issues. The Electrical Support Technician will work closely with the Electrical Engineering team to improve machine performance, develop service documentation, and support training efforts.
