Library Assistant - Materials Collection

Part-time, 24 hours per week

Under the direction of the Materials Collection Manager, this position is responsible for performing clerical tasks for the Materials Collection department. The Library is looking for a candidate who works well with all kinds of people and understands the transformative value that a library brings to its community. The 2026 starting salary is $20.31 per hour.

THE POSITION: We are looking for a dedicated employee with a welcoming personality to work in our busy Materials Collections department creating, modifying, and deleting item records and other records, creating labels for materials, maintaining addition and withdrawal statistics, repairing books and AV packaging, and processing library materials.



JOB REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, plus at least 2 years of library experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills:

  • The use of general office equipment including computers and relevant software.
  • General library methods and procedures.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Understand and follow directions.
  • Multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers and the general public.

A background in customer service is preferred.
