Position Overview
The University of Kansas, School of Music seeks to fill a full-time, academic year (nine month), non-tenured commercial voice, guitar and songwriting Lecturer to begin on August 18, 2026. The successful candidate will be surrounded by colleagues who share your passion for artistic expression, educating students, creating professional opportunities in the discipline, and are eager to create new ways for engagement in learning.
Lecturers are instructional members of the faculty and are not eligible for tenure or promotion in rank. Primary role is instruction with no obligations to perform research or service. This is a one to three-year academic-year appointment beginning August 18, 2026. Renewal will be based upon unit needs and funding, as well as performance that meets expectations. The University of Kansas School of Music is a comprehensive university music school offering professional training in a wide array of specializations through baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degree programs. A charter member of the National Association of Schools of Music (1928), KU is the only institution authorized by the Kansas Board of Regents to grant doctoral degrees in music. This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement between The University of Kansas and United Academics, that UAKU is the exclusive representative for the bargaining unit, and that it is their right to be a member or not be a member of a union without fear of personal or professional repercussions.
