*Description*
The HR GENERALIST plays a critical, hands-on role in delivering high-quality human resources support across multiple functions. Serving as the front line of HR, this position provides end-to-end HR support to employees and frontline and mid-level managers, ensuring consistent, compliant, and employee-centered HR practices within a complex, globally matrixed environment. As the primary point of contact for moderately complex HR-related inquiries, the HR Generalist partners closely with managers to support the effective application of HR policies and processes. This includes guidance on employee relations, performance management, people cycles, the talent acquisition and leave of absence processes, employee engagement, and policy interpretation, as well as the execution of routine to moderately complex HR matters. By delivering timely, accurate, and thoughtful HR support, the role helps managers navigate employee related activities with confidence while maintaining a positive employee experience. Designed as the "engine room" of the HR function, the HR Generalist is responsible for the operational and mid-complexity HR work that enables the HR Business Partner (HRBP) team to remain focused on strategic, long-term talent and organizational initiatives. The role collaborates closely with HRBPs, escalating higher-risk or more strategic matters appropriately while retaining ownership of hands-on execution and follow-through. This partnership model ensures both operational excellence and strategic alignment across the business. A key aspect of the role is building manager capability and autonomy over time. Through consistent guidance, coaching, and practical support, the HR Generalist helps increase managers' confidence in handling core HR responsibilities independently, strengthening leadership effectiveness across the organization. Equally important is a strong focus on operational excellence. The HR Generalist partners closely with Pearson's centralized HR operations teams to ensure accuracy, speed, and consistency in executing HR workflows and administrative processes, without compromising the employee or manager experience. This role is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-touch environment, enjoys solving real-world people challenges, and takes pride in being a trusted, go-to resource for managers and employees alike.
