POSITION SUMMARY - 10-month contract

Assists in designing, implementing and supervising strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes in all varsity programs of the College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Given that the College is a diocesan Catholic college, will carry out your functions of your position in support of the College's Catholic Identity, mission and in support of Church teachings
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Head and Assistant Coaches.
  • Guides student-athletes through all phases of the strength and conditioning program.
  • Supervises weight room sessions and on field/court conditioning sessions.
  • Encourages and motivates student-athletes to develop and understand the importance and benefits of conditioning and weight training.
  • Develops a comprehensive strength and conditioning calendar for the entire year.
  • Assists with supervising the campus fitness facility, including staffing student workers, maintaining equipment and overseeing daily operations.
  • Assists with overseeing strength and conditioning budget.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Supports the mission and vision of the College and respects the College's Catholic tradition.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education or related field. Requires CSCS.

Experience: Some collegiate-level experience.

Computer Skills: Skilled in the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite.

Other Requirements: Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices involved in strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes in intercollegiate athletics. Good knowledge of the healthcare policies of Loras College, the American Rivers Conference and the NCAA Division III. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, faculty, subordinates, student-athletes staff and general public. Ability to solve problems effectively and provide a positive role model for student-athletes. Ability to express ideas effectively, orally and in writing. Good assessment abilities. Able to use all related medical equipment.
