Job Summary

The CAD Designer I is responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating technical drawings, product documentation, and bills of material to support manufacturing and engineering operations. This role collaborates closely with sales, engineering, production, and customers to develop accurate designs and technical documentation based on specifications, sketches, blueprints, existing drawings, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience with CAD software, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Create, modify, and maintain product drawings, technical documentation, and bills of material.
  • Develop detailed drawings from sketches, blueprints, existing drawings, photographs, and written or verbal instructions.
  • Collaborate with sales teams, customers, engineering, and production personnel to ensure design requirements are accurately translated into technical drawings.
  • Review and update drawings to support manufacturing processes, engineering changes, and continuous production requirements.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with customer, company, and vendor specifications as well as established drafting standards.
  • Verify drawing accuracy, completeness, and consistency prior to release.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and operations teams to resolve design-related issues and prevent production delays.
  • Support the development and implementation of drafting tools, templates, and processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and engineering documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical support related to drawings and product documentation.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting and design processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-3 years of drafting, design, or CAD experience.
  • Proficiency with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, drafting principles, and engineering drawing standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical plans, blueprints, specifications, and models.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.


Education



  • Associate degree in Drafting Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.


Work Experience



  • 1-3 years of drafting or CAD design experience required.
  • Experience using SolidWorks or similar CAD software preferred.
  • Experience creating technical drawings, blueprints, and bills of material preferred.
  • Manufacturing or industrial design experience preferred.
  • HVAC industry experience preferred.
