- Become knowledgeable about the company's current product offerings and standard structures.
- Develop proficiency in AutoCAD 2D for preparing engineering drawings and design documentation.
- Develop an understanding of Finite Element Analysis software (Visual Analysis), CANDE, and Eriksson Culvert for structural design and analysis.
- Understand typical structural loading requirements for standard projects and products.
- Gain proficiency in applicable design codes and standards including ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, AREMA, IBC, and other relevant regulations for underground utility structures, box culverts, and bottomless culverts.
- Utilize Finite Element Analysis software to analyze standard products and project-specific modifications.
- Support the sales team by providing engineered product dimensions, sketches, and cost estimate information to assist in securing sales opportunities.
- Generate daily reinforcing shop cards for standard products such as UV, SC, and G-series.
- Revamp and maintain the standard structure shop card library, including updated design formats and master CAD detail drawings for each structure, along with updated lifting details.
- Prepare submittal drawings and detailed shop drawings for standard pipe piers and other basic structural components.
- Design smaller custom projects under the guidance and supervision of a licensed professional engineer.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Associate's degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field or a combination of high school diploma plus requisite experience required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
- Basic knowledge of structural design principles and engineering analysis software.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and structural codes.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and sales teams.
