The Highlights: The Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic has for over 20 years provided technical assistance to immigrant-serving community organizations in the interest of improving access to information and representation for low-income immigrants and refugees in Illinois. The special projects coordinator position is housed in the Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic and is responsible for developing select programming to build immigration legal services capacity in particular in areas of complex immigration representation. The special projects coordinator will organize trainings and materials for identified community-based organization (CBO) staff in collaboration with the Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic Director and practitioners in residence. The special projects coordinator will also organize convenings of select CBO staff in order to share information, resources and improve case strategy and case management practices. The special projects coordinator will be familiar with Department of Justice Recognition and Accreditation. The special projects coordinator will work with other Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic staff to carry out the goals of the project. What You'll Do: 1. Organize, develop (including preparing curriculum and materials) and coordinate specialized immigration trainings with identified staff of immigrant-serving community-based organizations (CBOs) that provide legal services and information to immigrants and refugees in the Chicagoland area. What You'll Need: BA/BS, and a minimum of five years experience with either low-income immigrant legal assistance projects, DOJ recognition and accreditation or related experience. Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish, is preferred. Candidate should be able to travel locally to CBO partner sites and be flexible in schedule to accommodate CBO partner requests for trainings. This is a grant-funded position. The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $40.86 to $62.00/hr. The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position.
