Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 5 plus years of related experience in event coordination

Position Summary
The individual in this position reports to, and will work in coordination with, the Executive Director of Special Events. Specifically, the individual will strategically develop, structure, and implement special University functions and events from pre- through post-planning. Developing and managing event budgets is required. The position requires the individual to coordinate and oversee the work of subordinates involved in event planning, such as food services, security, entertainment, etc. The individual must serve as a liaison between the Office of Special Events, University Administration, and other departments to establish an efficient channel of communications during all stages of event implementation. The performance of this position impacts relationships between UGA, event attendees, and donors of the University.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Strategic development, coordination, and facilitation of distinct high level complex institutional events. This includes autonomy in making final decisions regarding budget, venues, vendors, programming, and all event logistics, including completing/signing contracts. The position works with various university units and requires extreme attention to detail. It is responsible for briefing the President, Provost, and other university officials on the events they are directing.

  • Staff the President at events on and off campus, assist him at events to advise him on his role and any onsite needs that come up. This requires communicating and taking direction from the President.
