Description

SUMMARY

Expert trouble-shooter and equipment repair person for all types of plant/production electrical and mechanical equipment. This level of work requires education and experience with all types of electrical and mechanical service skills. Teaches and/or advises others about how or what to do to make repairs. Works from complicated drawings and specifications, Uses a variety of precision measuring instruments for exacting measurements. Must have experience programming robotic welders, PLCs, and other forms of industrial automation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems and makes necessary repairs.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, or upgrades equipment for improved operations.
  • Responsible for administering preventative maintenance program and keeping records thereof
  • Assists others to insure equipment is properly maintained.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts and machinery.
  • Tests performance of devices and machinery.
  • Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • May be required to operate a hand truck to move, convey, or hoist.
  • May be required to obtain fork truck certification and drive fork truck.
  • Reads blueprints.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Educations and/or Experience - Apprenticeship, Associate's degree, or equivalent training, plus three to five years' experience is required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills -- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English. Ability to write routing reports and correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups.

Mathematical Skills -- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.

Reasoning - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
