We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Medical Education Center Director II on our Education Center team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.

This role will provide leadership and strategic guidance to advance AMA Ed Hub and AMA's education portfolio and contribute to long-term planning decisions. Serve as physician advisor, shaping the selection, development, dissemination, and implementation of education products and programs that support physicians across their career journey, advance their professional development, and achieve business goals. Responsible for collaboratively developing, executing and managing content, delivery and learner engagement strategies and messages to shape and influence reach, adoption and impact of B2B and B2C education solutions. Evaluate, review, and edit content for quality and relevance to clinical audience. Represent strategy to constituents and external stakeholders. This role is recognized as an external thought leader within a strategic business unit or job discipline and requires broad and comprehensive expertise in leading-edge theories, techniques and/or technologies within the field. This role proactively identifies and solves problems that impact the management and direction of the AMA and influences strategy development and long-term planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Education Strategy and Development

  • Collaboratively lead strategy and development of comprehensive, cohesive and innovative portfolio of AMA education products and solutions to address user needs and meet business goals.
  • Provide physician guidance and thought leadership in areas such as clinical care delivery, quality improvement, patient-provider interactions, medical education, communications.
  • Utilize performance data, user feedback and knowledge of market landscape and trends to develop strategic and holistic approaches to address user educational and career advancement needs, market opportunities, and optimize portfolio.
  • Develop and define strategic and holistic approaches to address user educational and career advancement needs and market opportunities and guide organizational approach to awareness, adoption and sustained engagement of solutions and products with physicians, health care systems and others.
  • Influence and advise stakeholders to articulate relevant and compelling AMA portfolio and product positioning that resonates with physicians, health care leaders and others.
Editorial Oversight
  • Set direction for content optimization and audience engagement, including strategies for delivery optimization, adherence to industry best practices and audience-specific tailoring, including tailoring for C-suite leadership, physicians, care team members, patients, and policy makers.
  • Provide oversight for evaluation, review and editing of educational content and communications for relevance and accuracy, compliance with accreditation standards, and adherence to policy.
  • Guide identification and engagement of subject matter experts and reviewers, serving as intermediary as needed between physicians, health care professionals and learning experience designers to build superior content.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with content, marketing, and platform services to ensure successful production and publication.
  • Advise platform, content, partnership, and marketing teams on professional development best practices, including content and pedagogy, learning formats, personalized learning, collaborative and individualized learning, and longitudinal learning, and CME program accreditation and requirements.
External Collaborations
  • Represent and advance the strategy, product portfolio, and AMA Ed Hub, to constituents and liaise with stakeholders on opportunities to advance strategic priorities.
  • Recognize and build opportunities for partnership and participate in planning and in negotiations with other organizations.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships across medical education and health care landscapes including ACCME, ABMS, and medical societies.
  • Maintain awareness of market landscape, staying up to date with continuing professional development for physicians and health care professionals, and identify opportunities.
  • Establish credibility and thought partnership with external stakeholders and contribute to advancing best practices in medical education.

Staff Management

  • Lead, mentor, and provide management oversight for staff.
  • Responsible for setting objectives, evaluating employee performance, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Responsible for developing staff knowledge and skills to support career development.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. 3+ years spent in an administrative or education role in a health care provider or medical education organization.

  2. Knowledge and familiarity with the adult educational application of new technologies.

  3. Experience with teaching in the clinical setting and in developing continuing medical education programs.

  4. Knowledge of requirements from standard-setting organizations for medical education at all levels (eg, LCME, COCA, ACGME, ACCME, ABMS) required. Established relationships with one or more desired.

  5. Excellent relationship building, negotiation, collaboration and facilitation skills with the ability to exercise diplomacy, tact, professionalism, responsiveness, and flexibility.

  6. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in critical evaluation of the medical literature. Previous experience with medical editing is desirable.

  7. Demonstrated accomplishments in program evaluation using multi-method approaches and analysis of data to determine program outcomes and effectiveness.

  8. Excellent speaking and writing ability required. A track record of scholarship, presentations, report writing, and peer-reviewed publication required.

  9. Some travel (estimated at 20%) and representation required.

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $240,720-$324,870. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration and geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
