GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Performs routine support and para-professional work involving a variety of duties related to participant assistance, program needs, and group activities in an adult day care center and does related work as required under the immediate supervision of the Adult Day Care Manager.

***PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION IS FOR THE SENIOR CITIZENS' CENTER AND IS CONTINGENT ON FISCAL YEAR 2026-2027 BUDGET APPROVAL.***


Example of Duties

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with meeting client needs, following daycare plans, and facilitating social engagement and activities.

  • Communicates with clients, families, and care providers.

  • Assists participants requiring help with personal care and/or mobility within the guidelines of enrollment as necessary.

  • Provides for the safe operation of the adult day care center by assisting with programs, activities, recordkeeping, reports, and Individual Care Plans, and inspecting the facility and equipment. Maintains order and discipline among patrons by enforcing rules and policies.

  • Attends and participates in in-service training and workshops.

  • Performs related activities as directed by the Adult Day Care Manager, Lead Adult Day Care Aide, or other department supervisors.



Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Prior experience in geriatric care or dementia care is preferred.


License and Certifications
  • First Aid/CPR & AED Certification within 1 month of hire

MINMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Administering programs within an adult day care center.
  • Customer service principles.
  • Record keeping principles and practices.
  • Computers and related software applications, including the department's recreation management software program.
Skill in:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Possessing and displaying resourcefulness and responsibility.

  • Working independently and following instructions.

  • Supervising and interacting well with adults of all ability levels.

  • Providing customer service.

  • Preparing and maintaining records and reports.

  • Communications, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Physical Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperatures and blood-borne pathogens. May be required to work holidays.
