Description

EwingCole is a nationally recognized architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm with offices across the country. Our multi-disciplinary practice is built on the core values of professional excellence, design quality and collaboration. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Technician to join our team in our Irvine office. The Senior Design Technician is responsible for detail, documentation and coordination of HVAC building components.

Essential Functions

  • Perform HVAC load calculations.
  • Select equipment such as fans, air handling units, heat exchangers, chillers, etc.
  • Size and layout ductwork and piping.
  • Layout equipment rooms with proper clearance and access.
  • Design and draft details, sections, etc.
  • Confer with project team members and other engineering personnel and prepare design modifications as required.
  • Survey existing conditions and perform field reviews, investigations, processing of submittals during construction phase.
  • Stay abreast of state-of-the-art design through independent reading, attendance of seminars and continuing education. Participate in design, analysis and documentation training.
  • Mentor junior staff.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or technical school certification
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of current codes and practices
  • Strong drafting documentation knowledge
  • Understanding of engineering calculation software and equipment selection programs
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Revit
  • Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
