THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems to support safe and efficient operations at Fort Indiantown Gap. As a Plumber 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Fixture Repair: Install and repair bathroom and kitchen fixtures, including faucets, commodes, sinks, and showers
  • Pipe Work: Cut, bend, thread, clean, and solder pipes and fittings as needed for maintenance tasks
  • Material Preparation: Prepare material lists and ensure unused supplies are returned to warehouse stock
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of completed work and materials used
  • Tool Maintenance: Maintain tools and equipment by performing cleaning, adjustments, and minor repairs
  • Safety Practices: Apply plumbing trade safety procedures and follow all DMVA safety rules

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components and fixtures; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Class E (Water) Certification
  • Completion of formal training in the plumbing trade
  • Previous experience as a plumber
  • Previous experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of water main breaks and the sanitizing of water mains due to main breaks
  • Previous experience in the maintenance, repair, or replacement of underground water mains or sewage lines
  • Previous experience in the installation or connection of service lines to water or sewage mains
  • Previous experience working in hazardous conditions such as confined space, electrical currents, or chemical exposure
