THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees the development, accuracy, and organization of inmate medical records while also supporting daily tasks as needed. Within this role, you will ensure documentation meets policy standards and help guide staff in maintaining high-quality health information. As a Medical Records Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Supervision: Manage work assignments, provide training, and review performance of subordinate staff
  • Record Maintenance: Organize, monitor, and code inmate medical records according to required standards and practices
  • File Management: Issue, withdraw, and transfer records while ensuring confidentiality and legal compliance
  • Quality Review: Examine records for completeness and accuracy and request corrections when needed
  • Report Preparation: Prepare statistical summaries and records for management and departmental reviews
  • Committee Participation: Serve on the Quality Assurance Committee and evaluate processes for improvement

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of
    $45,907.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirement:

  • Possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.


Post Employment Requirement:

  • Employees who meet the Necessary Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
