COMPANY PROFILE:

AgTexas Farm Credit Services serves and supports approximately 2,600 member/borrowers in areas of lending, insurance sales, appraisal, and/or leasing. Eleven office locations can be found throughout the Association's 43-county trade territory, and the association has an average loan volume of approximately $2.85 billion, with total assets equaling $3.2 billion. The lending portfolio consists of cotton, livestock, dairy, feed grains, real estate, and ag-related business loans. Additionally, the association territory provides diversity in production and mortgage loans as well as commodities financed. Without strong financial backing farmers and ranchers will not survive, and people will not have food to eat or clothes to wear. AgTexas provides reliable credit and crop insurance to our member-owners, so they can feed and clothe the world.

POSITION:

The Commercial Credit Officer I position is located in any AgTexas office with a salary that is negotiable, depending upon experience. This position Assists Relationship Managers in the analysis, servicing, and reporting of the Association's mortgage and commercial loans. Processes and approves loans in assigned territory within the limits of specific delegated authority consistent with Association policies. Assignments are varied and moderately complex in nature, some latitude for decision making, works under moderate supervision.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, agricultural economics or a related field, or equivalent experience and at least one (1) year of experience in the administration and analysis of credit on commercial and mortgage loans including risk assessments and recommendations on approval of loan applications. Ideal candidate will exhibit a general knowledge of accounting/financial systems and key accounting principles. This position requires good oral and written communication skills with specialized knowledge of written correspondence principles. Basic skill level with Microsoft Office applications required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:



  • Provides analysis, servicing and reporting of the associations mortgage and commercial loans.
  • Assists prospective and current borrowers with their credit needs and with formulating solutions to credit related issues.
  • Makes and services loans and leases within delegated authority and in accordance with association policies. Makes and/or conveys decisions on loan approval, structure and pricing. Responsible for exercising credit risk management responsibilities on loans within area of responsibility.
  • Conducts simple to moderately complex credit analyses. Analyzes balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows of potential borrowers to ascertain creditworthiness. Maintains current, adequate and verified financial information on borrowers and guarantors as required by association policy.
  • Performs loan servicing tasks, which may include partial releases, subordination's to mineral leases and right of ways, division orders, amortizations, assumptions, severance agreements, insurance claims, additional advances, extensions and conversions.
  • Ensures that all assigned loans are properly risk rated, assigned loss given defaults are correct and performance status assignments are proper.
  • Complies with proper credit administration practices as outlined in the association's policies and procedures.
  • Performs collections on assigned loans and assists senior-level staff and management with collections on all loans in the portfolio. Works with delinquent borrowers to obtain satisfactory loan performance.
  • Assures that adequate insurance coverage is maintained as required by loan conditions and monitors ad valorem taxes to ensure that such taxes are paid on the security.
  • May assist with the title examination process on perspective loans to ensure validity of liens on property pledged as collateral or security interest on chattels. Prepares loan closing packages and facilitates the loan closing process as required in accordance with all applicable association and FCA policies and regulations.
  • Works directly with lending staff in the development of appropriate credit decisions and prepares other reports as requested by management.
  • Analyzes financial information including balance sheets, income statements and cash flows of potential borrowers to ascertain credit worthiness. Determines Probability of Default (PD) ratings as appropriate and make recommendations for approval or denial of loans.
  • Interprets, communicates, and provides guidance to loan officers regarding association lending policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and approves loans submitted by other lending staff that exceed their delegated authority.
  • Assists senior-level credit officers with complex loan applications as necessary.



WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Frequent interaction with customers, association departmental staff and management. Occasional interaction with association senior management, CEO, and/or board of directors. Occasional interaction with Farm Credit Bank of Texas staff. Frequent interaction with area professionals including real estate agents, commercial bankers, and others who deal with the association in the normal course of business.
