Key Accountabilities
  • Perform all duties associated with material handling, loading, unloading, and transport / delivery of materials by trucks and material handling equipment.
  • Perform SAP confirmations and create shopping carts related to these duties.
  • Operate computers and equipment associated with inventory management.
  • Manage inventories related to the construction operations group including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and tools.
  • Assist with annual testing and calibration of various tools and equipment.
  • Perform these duties in a safe and productive manner.
  • Maintain emergency storm bags inclusive of materials and equipment.
Qualifications
  • Must be able to read and write English legibly.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills, as well as good organizational skills.
  • Be physically able bodied and a safe and careful worker.
  • Have basic computer knowledge for example MS Office Suite and Office 365.
  • Have basic knowledge of the construction industry or construction warehouse and/or obtained (recognized education program) four-year vocational school diploma.
  • Ability to progress to 1st class Depot - Utility Worker as set forth by the department's progression guidelines.
  • Possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Class B CDL or higher driver's license.
  • Participate in and continually pass the DOT drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Obtain and retain any license or certificate required for this classification.
  • Work under adverse weather conditions during emergencies.
  • Become familiar and comply with all Company safety standards and environmental regulations, including safe work practices, as described in the Employee Safety Manual.
  • Be available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
  • May be required to handle substances considered hazardous under the U.S. Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Law or Massachusetts Right to Know Law.
  • Accept assignments anywhere within service territory.
  • Successfully pass physical test along with skills and qualification assessment on record.

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
