General Information:

James Madison University invites applications and nominations for the position of Academic Resources Analyst within the Division of Academic Affairs. This position is responsible to support the division with the oversight of academic resource planning/budgeting, compensation review/tracking, financial reporting/management and administration/coordination of the recruiting process for full-time positions. This role supports the Academic Resources Leadership Team and serves as an inter-divisional liaison. This job is not eligible for remote work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Academic Resource Planning/Budgeting:
- Support the development of the strategic operating plan for the Division of Academic Affairs
- Assist with the development, allocation and monitoring of operating, personnel and equipment budgets for the division, including self-supporting departments and units (i.e., Young Children's Program, School of Professional and Continuing Education, Center for Global Engagement, etc.)
- Develop and/or recommend alternative methods for resource allocations within the framework of state and university policies and procedures
- Provide recommendations to the Academic Resources Leadership Team for annual division funding initiatives based on the university's strategic plan, goals and objectives of the division and submissions from colleges, departments and support areas

Compensation Review/Tracking:
- Provide assistance for the review and approval of part-time and full-time personnel ERP transactions, track salary adjustments and address budgetary concerns with appropriate levels of Academic Affairs administration
- Assist Academic Resource Leadership Team with the coordination and completion of salary adjustment studies, merit process or other salary related analyses
- Coordinate the annual budget salary verification process for the division and oversee related position management information in our budget and ERP systems (i.e. salary adjustments, position information, budget information, etc.)
- Monitor part-time compensation to ensure compliance with related JMU policies and procedures
- Manage adjunct compensation database to facilitate accurate reporting and compensation adjustments

Financial Reporting/Management:
- Assist with the part-time/adjunct funding request process for all the colleges and manage/reconcile adjunct funding allocations throughout the year
- Support reconciliation of all budgets under the direct control of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, to include budget development, financial forecasting, coordination of division wide financial requests, etc.
- Develop reports to identify resource utilization gaps, trends and opportunities for improvement
- Assist in the interpretation of financial data and the implications of historical trends, current conditions and projections for available and planned personnel, physical space and financial resources

Administration/Coordination of recruiting process for full-time positions:
- Track/monitor recruiting process for full-time positions, prompting timely review of recruiting requests by Academic Affairs leadership and submissions through the HR/ERP systems
- Provide support for full-time position allocation and approval process
- Assist with the review and tracking of full-time position salary offers, salary approvals and related documentation

Academic Resources Team Support:
- Serve as a contact person for faculty and staff to provide guidance about resource questions
- Communicate resource needs, questions or concerns effectively and efficiently with all levels of Academic Affairs Administration
- Support other members of the Academic Resources Team as needed (i.e. budget reconciliation, renovation budget tracking, data reporting, ERP support, other duties as assigned, etc.)

Inter-Divisional Liaison:
- Work with the Administration and Finance Division and Planning, Analytics, and Institutional Research (PAIR) to correlate and provide data and analysis as needed
- Serve as the Academic Affairs Stewardship Liaison to the Foundation (as needed)
- Serve as contact for resource questions for other divisions/departments
- Serve on relevant Request for Proposal (RFP) teams/committees to represent the financial and resource interests of Academic Affairs (as needed)
- Serve as a divisional representative on university committees, tasks forces, teams, etc.; particularly those dealing with technologies and systems affecting the financial reporting structure and use of resources

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications for this position include a bachelor's degree (with preference given to those who have a master's degree), ability to understand, write and prepare budgets, monitor fiscal transactions, can work independently, complete complex tasks efficiently and prioritize work assignments. Works well in a team environment and must have excellent interpersonal, writing and communication skills. Advanced Microsoft Office and PeopleSoft/ERP skills are preferred.
