The Fleet Safety Specialistis responsible for the day-to-dayexecution and enforcementof the company'sfleet safety policies and programs. The role focuses on translating company safety standards into operational reality by conductingfield audits, monitoringreal-time driver performance data, and providingdirect coachingto the drivers and managers. The successful candidate will serve as the primarysubject matter expertfor vehicle-related safety, leveragingdata analytics and telematics (Lytx)to drivecontinuous improvementinroad safety performanceandreduce motor vehicle accidents (MVAs).Compensation:$80,000K Annually
  • Ensure strictadherenceto company safety policies, regulatory requirements, and proper use ofpersonal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Train, coach, and mentornew and existing drivers on safe driving practices, equipment operation, and efficient routing, reinforcing aculture of accountabilityandcontinuous improvement.
  • Deliver and continuously enhance the company'sdriver training programsfor all employees operatingcommercial vehicles.
  • LeverageLytx video telematicsand event data to proactivelycoach drivers, identifyat-risk behaviors, and implement targetedcorrective actionsto improve driver performance andreduce preventable incidents.
  • Promote astrong safety cultureby encouragingGood Catch reporting, unsafe condition identification, and timely, effectiveincident reporting and response.
  • Administerdriver road tests,vehicle inspections, andqualification evaluationsto ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and validatedriver competencythrough road evaluations, ensuring alignment withDOT regulationsand company expectations.
  • ConductHM126F,security awareness, and other requiredcompliance trainingfor drivers and branch personnel.
  • Support and participate inauditsof drivers, vehicles, and maintenance facilities to ensure operational andregulatory compliance.
  • Ensure allDOT and safety-related training requirementsare completed, documented, and maintained across all locations.
  • Conductfield observationsand utilize data (includingLytx insights) to deliverconstructive, behavior-based coachingand retraining where deficiencies are identified.
  • Performpre-employment driver assessments, including interviews, ride-alongs, and practical demonstrations.
  • Ensure locations maintain propervehicle maintenance programs,driver inspection processes, and accuratelog/ELD compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain theDriver Mentor Programto support onboarding, skill development, and performance consistency.
  • Reinforce and model the Company'sZero Incident cultureacross all operations.
  • Communicate and implementAirgas EHS policies and procedureswith a focus on reducingaccidents, injuries, and property loss.
  • Conductannual driver evaluations and performance reviews, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Train and certify personnelin properforklift operation, inspection, and maintenance practices.
  • Lead, coordinate, and continuously improve theDriver Mentor Programto ensure effective onboarding and ongoing driver development.
  • Assist with internalDOT and SMS compliance audits, preparing detailed reports and actionable recommendations.
  • Supportaccident and injury investigations, utilizing tools such asLytx video analysisto determineroot cause, identify contributing behaviors, and recommendpreventative measures.
  • Participate inincident review committeesand contribute to classification, corrective actions, andcontinuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and promotesafety initiatives, participate insafety meetings, and ensure consistentadherence to safety protocols.
  • Design and implementtraining programsand procedural improvements to enhancedriver proficiency, operational efficiency, and overallsafety performance.
________________________ Are you a MATCH? Requirements Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in the day-to-day execution and enforcement of fleet safety policies and programs.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for all aspects of vehicle-related safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage data analytics and telematics (Lytx) to monitor real-time driver performance and reduce motor vehicle accidents (MVAs).
  • In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations and related regulatory requirements for commercial vehicle operation.
  • Experience with vehicle maintenance programs, driver inspection processes, and maintaining accurate log/ELD compliance.
  • Familiarity with implementing Airgas EHS policies and procedures and promoting a Zero Incident culture.
  • Exceptional ability to train, coach, and mentor drivers and managers, utilizing constructive, behavior-based coaching techniques.
  • Skill in designing, developing, and enhancing company driver training programs.
  • Ability to conduct thorough field audits and field observations to translate safety standards into operational reality.
  • Proficiency in administering driver road tests, vehicle inspections, and qualification evaluations.
  • Strong investigational skills to support accident and injury investigations, using tools like Lytx video analysis to determine root cause and recommend preventative measures.
  • Ability to perform pre-employment driver assessments (interviews, ride-alongs, practical demonstrations).
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a strong safety culture by promoting Good Catch reporting and timely incident reporting and response.
  • Experience with conducting annual driver evaluations and performance reviews.
  • Ability to conduct specific compliance training including HM126F and security awareness.
  • Certified or able to become certified to train and certify personnel in proper forklift operation, inspection, and maintenance practices.
  • Experience supporting and assisting with internal DOT and SMS compliance audits.
  • Commitment to ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
