Forensic Registered Nurse Supervisor (2nd Shift) - Norristown State Hospital

This position provides leadership and oversight for nursing care delivered to patients with serious psychiatric and behavioral needs within the forensic treatment setting. As a Forensic Registered Nurse Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

• Staff Supervision: Direct and evaluate nursing and forensic staff to ensure effective patient care
• Care Oversight: Monitor treatment areas to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment
• Training Support: Provide orientation, education, and on-the-job training for nursing personnel
• Emergency Response: Address psychiatric emergencies and guide staff in safe intervention practices
• Performance Management: Coach, assess, and document employee performance and development needs
• Communication Coordination: Share important clinical information with teams, leadership, and support services

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM) with rotating on and off duty days, including weekends and holidays, and a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
• Overtime as required and subject to emergency call in.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years as a Forensic Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of professional nursing experience providing care, treatment, custody, and control of psychiatric patients.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
