Overview

The Construction Supervisor is responsible supervising bargaining unit employees around the system and ensuring that all work is performed safely and in accordance with operating procedures and engineering specifications, including all construction standards that govern the work. The supervisor will monitor and schedule daily work, react to changing priorities and communicate changes in work assignments to Construction Managers.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • The Construction Supervisor is responsible supervising bargaining unit employees around the system and ensuring that all work is performed safely and in accordance with operating procedures and engineering specifications, including all construction standards that govern the work. The supervisor will monitor and schedule daily work, react to changing priorities and communicate changes in work assignments to Construction Managers.
  • Supervise and coordinate the installation of Power Plant / Substation electrical equipment such as conduits, cables, terminations, disconnect switches, distribution panels, automatic transfer switches, transmitters, breakers, and including to but without limitation to transformers.
  • Trains workers in electrical installation and demolition tasks as directed; will supervise weekly personnel and ensure that all work is performed in accordance with procedures that govern the work
  • Responsible for the safety of their direct reports, monitor quality, productivity and provide feedback that will help personnel progress in their title
  • Responsible for ensuring that Human Performance Improvements (HPI) tools are incorporated into daily work.
  • Responsible for conducting "On the Job Training (OJT)", effective job briefings, documented safety inspections and ensures all personnel attend training as required.
  • Must be committed to the Way We Work Principles and adherence to the Company's Standards of Business Conduct and other Company procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S).
  • Provide and assist with developing a positive facility morale. Responsible for handling employee concerns in a professional timely fashion.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 Years relevant work experience work experience in the Construction field related to Electrical Construction and associated equipment or
  • Associate's Degree and 4 Years relevant work experience work experience in the Construction field related to Electrical Construction and associated equipment or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 Years relevant work experience work experience in the Construction field related to Electrical Construction and associated equipment
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering and 2 Years relevant work experience work experience in the Construction field related to Electrical Construction and associated equipment
Relevant Work Experience
  • Experience in the installation of electrical equipment such as conduits, cables, terminations, disconnect switches, distribution panels, automatic transfer switches, transmitters and including to but without limitation to transformers is required.
  • Experience and knowledge related to reading and interpreting drawings and engineering print is required.
  • Project management experience is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Physical Demands
  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to carry tools and materials when climbing ladders and scaffolds, and entering confined spaces
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
  • Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to use hand tools and operate heavy machinery, i.e. jackhammers
  • Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
  • Use hand-eye coordination to adjust controls on equipment
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency conditions when called.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, on all shifts and be on call 24 hours a day.
