Overview

Assist in overseeing procurement and vendor payment activities for Transmission including both Underground Transmission and Transmission), O&M, and capital material and services. Manage the administrative areas of the vegetation management program and line maintenance operation. Performs administrative functions for Transmission Operations and provides administrative support and assistance for the General Manager and/or direct reports along with S&TOs EH&S Manager. Team members must be committed to excellence, and personnel safety, be able to provide exemplary customer service, collaborate with co-workers to arrive at sound business resolutions, demonstrate a high energy level, work under pressure, and be able to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities while meeting stringent deadlines. Strong organizational, teamwork, initiative, interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills are essential.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Support Transmission Operations (Underground Transmission and Transmission Line Maintenance) by overseeing procurement, vendor payment processing, and contract administration for O&M and capital materials and services.
  • Perform key administrative and operational support functions for Transmission Operations leadership, including coordination with managers, supervisors, planners, and project teams.
  • Manage and administer elements of the vegetation management and line maintenance programs, including contractor coordination and documentation tracking.
  • Prepare, process, and monitor requisitions, purchase orders, releases, and invoices using Oracle EBS, iProcurement, and other Company procurement systems, ensuring compliance with corporate policies.
  • Analyze financial and operational data to support budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and cost control efforts, monitor budget components and report on progress toward departmental goals.
  • Maintain accurate records, files, and reports involving complex classifications, contracts, and procurement documentation in accordance with Company standards.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and internal stakeholders on contractor services, planning activities, bid preparation, and evaluation of terms and conditions.
  • Support compliance with Company safety, health, environmental, procurement, and accounting policies, and assist managers with reviewing and updating operating procedures as needed.
  • Coordinate responses to executive inquiries, customer concerns, and communications from local officials, ensuring professional, timely, and accurate information.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across Transmission Operations, corporate support groups, and external vendors to ensure business needs are met.
  • Provide specialized administrative support to Transmission Line Maintenance activities, including use of internal systems and coordination of field-related services as required.
  • Demonstrate initiative and adaptability by learning Company procedures, systems, and tools, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience. or
  • Associate's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience. or
  • High School Diploma/GED and at least 7 years of experience in any of the following areas: general accounting, budgeting, business administration, or construction contract administration.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering and at least 3 years of experience.
  • Associate's Degree Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering and at least 5 years of experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Strong oral and written communications skills is required.
  • Proficient in the use of Oracle iprocurement and EBS is required.
  • Computer proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft is required.
  • Proficient in the use of Maximo and PeopleSoft, preferred.
  • Familiar with Contractor Oversight System (COS), preferred.
  • Familiar with Contractor Oversight practices, preferred.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Con Edison service territory, as needed.
