Wage Scale Position Summary
As a Trainee be familiar and assist Foremen, Journeymen and Apprentices with all tools, handheld meters and test equipment used in performing job duties. Respond to instructions or request when given, inform Foremen, Journeymen or Apprentices of possible safety hazards. Be self-motivated to learn about equipment, materials and their proper uses in their support to EDS. Learn and understand clearance procedures on one-line diagrams and sketches. Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Must pass Mechanical, Reading and Math Aptitude test to be considered for an interview
A valid Texas driver's license with a history of safe driving record in accordance with CPS Energy policies, procedures, safety standards and applicable laws and regulations.
Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (Class A) within 120 days of being hired and have a safe driving record
Ability to drive various sizes of company CDL and non-CDL vehicles
Ability to work in and around energized equipment
Ability to climb in and out of trenches and work in high elevations
Ability to work in confined spaces such as man holes and vaults
Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written instructions
Ability to read and understand equipment manuals
Ability to read design sketches, one-line diagrams, blue prints and schematics
Ability to transport needed tools, equipment and materials to/from and around work site
Ability to understand load charts for safe crane operations
Ability to understand safety and company policies and standards
Ability to distinguish colors
Clean tools, equipment, materials and specified work areas as needed
Experience working outdoors in a construction environment
Follow specific work orders as given by skilled worker or foreman
Basic mathematics and measurements skill Preferred Qualifications

Working Environment
Field and Shop environment, work is performed in extreme temperatures indoors and outdoors, ability to work in high elevations, high noise levels, and exposure to extreme environmental conditions such as hot and cold.
Employee may be potentially be exposed to hazards: burns chemical, confined spaces, power lines and exposed to High Voltage equipment.
Employee may be exposed to dusts, mists, fumes, gases, odors and poor ventilation. Employee will be required to wear respirator (ex: dust masks, HEPA filters, SCBA). Physical Demands

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
