Job Title: Associate Investigator

Work Location: Newark, DE, 19711

Duration: 12 Months

Schedule: 40 hours per week

Shift Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Position Description

Develop and apply modern analytical techniques to support toxicity testing for agricultural products, intermediates, metabolites, and impurities, under the supervision of a Principal Investigator.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field
  • GLP laboratory experience
  • Hands-on experience with HPLC and UHPLC
  • Experience handling radioactive samples
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receive radioactive test substances in compliance with NRC requirements
  • Prepare solvent stocks and analyze radioactivity and radiopurity
  • Prepare study doses using non-radiolabeled and -labeled test substances
  • Analyze prepared doses for radioactivity, radiopurity, and chemical concentration, and enter results into the DEBRA database
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate analytical instruments, including:

    • LC/UV/radiochemical detectors
    • LC-MS/MS
    • Liquid scintillation counters
    • Fraction collectors


  • Process -labeled biological samples (urine, bile, feces, tissues) using techniques such as liquid extraction and SPE
  • Develop and apply chromatographic methods to separate, identify, and quantify actives and metabolites for GLP toxicity studies
  • Perform and document all work in compliance with GLP and regulatory guidelines
  • Perform laboratory and equipment custodial duties


Qualifications

  • B.S. in Chemistry or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a GLP laboratory (preferred)
  • Experience with sample handling, method development, and chromatography (HPLC/UHPLC) with scintillation and DAD detectors
  • Experience with LC/MS and LC-MS/MS preferred
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with (or ability to learn) software such as DEBRA, LAURA, OpenLab, and Xcalibur
