What You'll Do:

* Performs and documents configurations and changes to communication systems and networks including all hardware and software components.
* Adapts procedures, operations, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment to meet the specific needs of the specialization.
* Exercises sound judgment in interpreting and adapting policies, regulations, precedents, and work directions to individual cases or problems.
* Analyzes subjects, phases, or issues to determine what actions need to be taken and selects from multiple possible solutions.
* Handles a variety of conventional problems, questions, and situations requiring professional skill and discretion.

Schedule: 9/80. Start times are no earlier than 6 a.m. and end times no later than 6 p.m.

Hybrid: Metropolitan's current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

Expectations of Hours of Service, Emergency and Stand-by Service: Employees in this position may be required to work rotating shifts and/or stand-by service to address operational needs and emergencies as required. May be required to work extended periods away from the normal reporting location. Must be able to work rotating shifts (Rotating weekly post, 24/7, including weekends).

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or High School equivalency certification, four years of relevant experience, and completion of 40 semester units from an accredited college, university, vocational or military school.

Relevant experience is defined as: Experience installing, maintaining and repairing Cisco network routers and switches, VoIP phones, copper and fiber cabling, and Wi-Fi wireless access points.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
