Job Description:

TITLE: Static Stress Engineer II

EMPLOYER: Airbus Americas, Inc.

LOCATION: Wichita, KS

DUTIES: Creating high quality integrated and certified engineering repair solutions that are simple to routine in nature for the airlines and internal customers within given time scales. Performing stress/strength analyses to assess structural integrity requirements have been met using standard hand and computer methods. Assignments include structural sizing/documentation and subsequent certification documents for in-service fleet support. Liaising with Design, Fatigue and other appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum design solutions for the airline customer. Liaising with Principal and Senior Static Engineers to ensure that methods, assumptions, data and procedures reflect on-going developments. Ensuring that the final repair solution brings the aircraft back into an airworthy condition. Identifying local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 2 years in any job title involving experience in airframe design and repair programs. Prior experience must include: Experience with airline industry operations and maintenance processes; Experience with classical and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methods; Experience supporting technical signatory functions for aircraft structural repair design approvals; Experience with static stress or fatigue related certification documents; Experience compiling and generating progress reports to convey deliverable objectives; Experience in airframe design including metallic and composites; Experience working on aircraft structures, including a working knowledge of typical aircraft fasteners, metallic and composite materials and their applications; Developing aircraft structural repairs; Experience with aircraft maintenance and repair manuals, including SRM, AMM, and IPC; and Experience with aircraft stress and fatigue analysis documents.
