Summary Job Description: Pharmacy Resident Full Time I First Shift Hospital Pharmacy I Corbin, KY The pharmacy department works to achieve optimal medication use and patient outcomes in a collaborative, patient-focused environment. Pharmacy is responsible for the storage, preparation (including sterile compounding), distribution, and dispensing of medications 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Pharmacy utilizes automated dispensing cabinets and barcoding to enhance patient safety and operational efficiency. Inpatient pharmacy clinical services involve pharmacists working directly with healthcare teams to optimize patient drug therapy by providing drug information and therapeutic monitoring. Description:
- Interprets and reviews medication orders for correct drug, dosage, route, frequency, allergies, therapeutic duplication, interactions, contraindications, and potential adverse events for all ages served.
- Ensure drugs are available to patients at the time they are needed to avoid delays in therapy and promote positive patient outcome.
- Performs pharmaceutical calculations. * Supervises/performs production of compounded products (sterile and nonsterile, hazardous and nonhazardous) for first doses, scheduled deliveries and batched products.
- Provides technician oversite and assume role of supervisor in routine daily activities.
- Oversees dispensing and reconciliation of medications including controlled substances, management of expiration dates and drug recalls.
- Maintains knowledge of local, state and federal regulations regarding pharmacy practice as well as knowledge of all applicable accrediting bodies medication management standards (e.g. the Joint Commission, ACHC, etc).
- Demonstrates supervisory skills necessary to plan, organize and direct activities in the pharmacy in a cost-effective manner.
- Designing, implementing, and monitoring appropriate medication dosing regimens.

- Working knowledge of pharmacy operations including pharmacy operating system, use of patient record, purchasing, inventory and formulary management, automation, packaging, USP 797, USP 795, and pharmaceutical waste.
- Initiates, documents, and participates in department activities that promote positive patient outcomes.
- Serves as an active member of the inter-professional team on patient care units.
- Participates in unit-based huddles and activities if available.
- Knowledgeable in unit's metrics, goals, and works with staff on unit to help achieve goals
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree.
- No experience required.
- Kentucky as applicable to site pharmacy intern license at start of the residency program if pharmacist licensure not obtained prior to residency start date.
- Kentucky Pharmacist license as applicable to site within 60 days of residency start date. Limited extension at discretion of RPD, Pharmacy Management and RAC
