Responsible for developing and executing strategy to drive performance, optimize growth potential, mitigate risks and drive alignment. The position leads sales, service, commercial banking, compliance, safety, security and quality control within the assigned State. The State President serves as a key leader collaborating cross-functionally, ensuring employees are positioned to succeed, directing strategic business decisions, and guiding goal setting and attainment while demonstrating the Ameris Vision, Purpose, Expectations and Values.

Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
* Strictly adheres to Bank Secrecy Act requirements and applies organizational policies and procedures in all activities.
* Sets and manages strategies to optimize resources, enhance State presence, drive high performance, evaluate capabilities and achieve market potential.
* Responsible for achievement of objectives and goals as set by Bank leadership; aligns, communicates, monitors and evaluates State goals in alignment with Bank objectives.
* Travels throughout the State to assess performance, resolve problems, communicate directives and drive engagement.
* Oversees financial performance and profitability of assigned State; responsible for growth of consumer and commercial loans and deposits.
* Leads commercial banking activities within the State.
* Works with the Director of Retail Banking to ensure that retail and commercial goals are in alignment, leading to a cohesive team environment between the retail and commercial bank.
* Applies strategic leadership to anticipate issues and opportunities, mitigate risks, solve problems, remove obstacles, provide coaching and implement initiatives.
* Collaborates with other leaders to formulate strategy for enterprise efforts and enhance organizational performance.
* Advises Bank leadership of State trends, developments and performance.
* Communicates and implements enterprise initiatives; aligns efforts and drives consensus.
* Assesses and monitors performance, recruits, trains, coaches, motivates, manages and evaluates teams to meet and exceed goals as outlined by Bank leadership.
* Oversees compliance, safety, security and quality control activities within assigned State.
* Represents the Bank in business development efforts, on business calls, at networking and community functions; develops strong community relations in the State.
* Develops partnerships and collaborates with other line of business leaders to attain mutual goals and better serve customers.
* Formulates and implements policies, sales management procedures and operational processes for the State; reviews and approves policy exceptions within authorized limits.
* Manages client relationships, identifies business development opportunities, and generates leads and referrals.
* Manages budgets, reviews and approves expenditures.
* Maintains knowledge of banking products, programs, services and promotions.
* Applies need-based sales techniques to attract, expand, and retain customer relationships by identifying products and services to enhance the customer relationship with the bank.
* Ensures compliance with internal controls, operational procedures and risk management policies.
* Practices ethical sales behaviors in accordance with Ameris' core values of Integrity and Honesty; always acts in the best interest of the customer when offering additional products and services.

* Able to provide a high level of interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs.
* Thorough knowledge of banking compliance policies and procedures.
* Ability to apply thorough knowledge of cost accounting, financial analysis, commercial and consumer credit principles to assess credit viability.
* Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency.
* Thorough knowledge of banking policies, procedures, products and services.
* Thorough knowledge of relevant geographic market.
* Highly motivated to exceed established targets. Ability to analyze markets, identify prospects, develop and execute sales techniques and strategies.

Industry and Work Experience:
* 12 or more years of Retail and Commercial Banking experience.
* Extensive leadership experience required.
* Successful sales management and business development experience.

Academic:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent of education and related training or experience required.
