Job Summary The ER Clerk / Patient Registration Representative is responsible for accurately registering patients in the Emergency Department while delivering excellent customer service in a fastpaced, highstress environment. This role ensures complete demographic, insurance, and consent information is obtained to support timely care, billing accuracy, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities * Greet and register emergency room patients promptly and professionally, verifying demographic, insurance, and guarantor information. * Obtain required signatures, consents, and HIPAA documentation while maintaining patient confidentiality. * Perform realtime insurance verification, eligibility checks, and authorization screening when applicable. * Accurately enter patient information into the hospital information system/EHR, ensuring data integrity and compliance. * Collect copayments, deductibles, and deposits when appropriate and provide payment receipts. * Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding patient status, registration completion, and documentation needs. * Handle high patient volumes, trauma activations, and sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy. * Respond to patient and family inquiries regarding registration, insurance, and billing processes. * Maintain compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA, and hospital policies and procedures. * Assist with scanning, indexing documents, and maintaining organized registration records. Additional Skills & Qualifications Push computers on wheels and on your feet in the ER. Someone that can maneuver the computer and be on their feet for long periods of times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fullerton, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
