Position Summary

The Safe Patient Handling (SPH) Assistant supports the organization's Safe Patient Handling Program at both the Santa Monica and Westwood campuses. This role assists in promoting a culture of safety by supporting staff training initiatives, conducting unit rounding, and assisting with equipment audits and program activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the implementation and ongoing support of the Safe Patient Handling program at assigned campuses.
  • Support staff education and training related to safe patient handling practices and equipment use.
  • Conduct rounding on patient care units to assess safe patient handling practices and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with audits and inventory of safe patient handling equipment to ensure availability, functionality, and compliance.
  • Promote and help foster a culture focused on safe patient handling and injury prevention.
  • Work collaboratively with Safe Patient Handling Coordinators and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Compensation
  • Salary Range: $29.17 - $56.37 per hour
Qualifications
Qualifications
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required.
  • Preferred experience providing education or training related to safe patient handling practices.
  • Previous experience in a related healthcare role, such as rehabilitation services, lift team, or similar patient care support function, is preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to float between the Westwood and Santa Monica locations
