Summary:

Provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients viaAvasysTelesitteror direct one-on-one observation under the guidance and direction of the nurse.

Responsibilities:


  • Usessystematic processes tofacilitateprompt placement oftelesitterdevices andvalidatescriteria for use.
  • Maintains visual observation at all times, whether individually or observingmultiple patients at one time on a monitor.
  • Monitors the patient viatelesitterand uses voice command functionality to redirectpatientwhile contacting nursing associates ifpatientrequiresadditionalintervention tomaintainsafety and documents intervention.
  • Escalates caregiver notification when a patient is at risk for harm to self or others andparticipatesin collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety concerns.
  • Communicates effectively withpatients and staff whilemaintainingdiscretion,courtesyand an understanding of patient privacy.
  • Activates thetelesitteralarm to notify care providers in the event a care providercannot be reached.
  • Ensures all interventions aredocumented withinthe functionality of thetelesittersoftware.
  • Communicates with patient'sfamily andvisitors explaining the safety of thetelesitterdevice.
  • Prepares weekly reporting ontelesitterdashboard and submits electronically to thetelesittertask force.
  • Prepares monthly reporting of metrics totelesittertask force.
  • Communicates effectively with patientsand staff whilemaintainingdiscretion,courtesy and an understanding of patient privacy.
  • Demonstrates understanding and proficiency inthe use of theAvaSysTeleSitterSolution software and basic computer operation.
  • Maintains visual observation at all times, whether individually or observingmultiple patients at one time on a monitor.
  • Assures patient environment safety. Seeks assistance withremoval of any potential safety hazard fromroomand reports findings to Charge Nurse or nursecaringforpatient.
  • Maintains vigilance in observation of patients for safety by not engaging in any distractions, including but not limited to, the use of personal cell phones, computer access, reading material or other visual material not directly involved with the care of the patient.
  • Participates in hand-off ofpertinent assigned patient information and status when arriving and upon completion of shift.

Requirements:

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Completion of the Advanced Certified Nursing Assistant training required or must obtain within six months from date of hire or date of transfer.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:

  • Certifiednursing assistant certificationrequired.
  • BLS issued through AmericanHeart Association required.
