What to Expect

Consider before submitting an application:

This position is expected to start May 2026 and continue through summer term (ending approximately August 2026 or later, if available). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program.Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team

Tesla's Security Intelligence team is responsible for the protection of Tesla's intellectual
property, trade secrets and confidential information. This role will assist with both proactiveand reactive investigations and actively address internal and external threats to Tesla'sequities.


What You'll Do
  • Assist in highly sensitive, complex, and confidential investigations into incidents of data loss and intellectual property theft, technology misuse, and conflict of interest
  • Collect on-the-ground information both within and beyond the Tesla walls to protect the company from threats
  • Conducts reviews and provide analysis of internal network activity and available open-source information to identify incidents of data loss
  • Collaborate with technical forensic investigators to integrate technical and human investigations into one high efficiency function
  • Partner with Legal and Human Resources and other investigative/analysis functions across the company to ensure timely completion of investigations
  • Solve complex problems with data from multiple sources and make recommendations to leadership on the appropriate strategy
  • Be a member of a team of investigators to identify, exploit, disrupt, or protect against any undermining of Tesla's business operations

What You'll Bring
  • Final year student working towards a degree in criminal justice, political science, or humanities related studies (this is a non-technical role)
  • Able to work on site in Austin, TX
  • Proficiency in open-source research
  • Comfort with ambiguity; the ability to change focus quickly due to shifting corporate priorities
  • Demonstrate strong ability to embrace and adapt to change, take initiative and showcase curiosity, learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter who is results oriented, resourceful, analytical, innovative, intellectually curious and who take initiative and risks
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal
  • The highest level of integrity and honesty and the ability to protect sensitive confidential information
