Job Summary and Responsibilities

Acentra Health is looking for a Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D) - PRN (Remote U.S., Arkansas preferred) to join our growing team.

Job Summary:

  • The purpose of this position is to evaluate medical records for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, ensuring alignment with clinical criteria and contractual requirements to determine medical appropriateness. The Board-Certified Behavior Analyst - Doctoral (BCBA-D) applies advanced clinical expertise, critical thinking, and decision-making skills to assess requests for behavioral review.

    This role involves conducting various types of utilization reviews based on workload demands, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable standards and policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze patient medical records, diagnoses, and treatment plans to determine the medical necessity of requested ABA services.
  • Conduct second-level reviews, including reconsiderations and peer-to-peer discussions with requesting providers.
  • Apply established clinical guidelines and payer policies to support utilization management decisions.
  • Communicate determinations clearly and professionally to providers, internal teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of medical records in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Use appropriate telephone and written communication etiquette in all interactions.
  • Foster and maintain positive, professional relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Stay current with clinical practices, utilization review processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in training, audits, and quality improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies including policies related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules.

The list of responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other education- and experience-related duties that management may deem necessary from time to time.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • Current, active, unrestricted Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), per contract requirements.
  • Master's degree in Behavior Analysis.
  • 3+ years of recent clinical experience in the behavior analysis field.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Medical record abstracting skills.
  • Reside in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Reside in Arkansas.
  • Experience with State Medicaid program(s).
  • 1+ years Utilization Management/Utilization Review/Prior Authorization.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote position with ability to adjust to demanding workload.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the organization of medical records, medical terminology, and disease process.
  • Must be proficient with computers and MS Office products, including Microsoft Teams.
